Computer Network

Two or more devices which are communicating with each other through some media are called computer network.

                                              OR

A system of interconnected computers and peripheral devices are called computer network. It can connect Computer, Scanner or Printer.

Types of computer network:

Peer-to- peer:

 peer-to-peer (P2P) network is created when two or more PCs are connected and share resources without going through a separate server computer.

İt is also called P2P network.

client/server network

 A computer network in which one centralized, powerful computer (called the server) is a hub to which many less powerful personal computers or workstations (called clients) are connected.

The clients run programs and access data that are stored on the server

Advantages of computer network

q  The first major advantage of using computer network is to share resources.

q  The use of networks is in business side. Networks are used for advertising, production, shipping, planning, billing and accounting purposes.

q  Networks are very much useful at government level as federal government,  local government and military organization use networks for
 communication purposes.

q  In addition to this networks are being used in homes as well for example, to switch and control different devices from one place.

q  In education we have online libraries which we can visit at our home PC. This is all just due to the networks.
